Marrakech Inshallah
Feature Film
USA, 90 minutes
Directed by Steffen Pierce and Christian Pierce
Summary:
The title of this experimental film translates, loosely, as “Marrakesh, God Willing.” As directed by Boston-based brothers Steffen and Christian Pierce (The Bride Market of Imilchil), this Arabic language effort was shot on 8mm reversal stock. It tells the story of a young man named Aziz, who desperately longs to leave his small mountain village for a better life in Merrakesh. In addition, the film reflects on the nature of Moroccan society, as well as the ethical obligations of filmmakers to their respective subjects and the impact of impoverishment and culture on those obligations.
Starring: Aziz Raddad, Hammadi Raddad and Fatima el Ghali.
