THE THIRD ANNUAL DOMINICAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Official Entry Deadline is September 16st for the 2007 Festival

Cofresi Beach, Puerto Plata, July 31, 2007- The Dominican International Film Festival (DIFF) announced today a call for film submissions for The Third Annual Dominican International Film Festival being held on November 8 – November 11, 2007. Accepted films will be screened at the Third Annual Festival taking place at the Sun Village Resort & Spa in Cofresi Beach. The Festival will showcase a variety of the year’s best independent films, with the exotic location attracting filmmakers and film enthusiasts from across the globe. Each year attendees return to the Festival to experience select film screenings, attend panel discussions and workshops, enjoy live entertainment, and attend exclusive parties, all while basking in the luxury of the Caribbean lifestyle!

The Festival is accepting film entries in the following categories: Feature, Documentary, Short, and Latin American Feature. All films should be submitted through www.withoutabox.com. The early bird deadline ends August 1, 2007, and the regular deadline ends September 16, 2007. The 2006 Dominican International Film Festival drew attendees from around the world. Guests of The Festival screened 40 films from 14 countries in seven different languages. Film highlights from The Festival included the feature film, Love Wrecked starring Amanda Bynes, Chris Carmack, Jonathan Bennett and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, which was filmed on location at the Sun Village Resort & Spa; the heart-wrenching French-Canadian film, L’Audition, written and directed by Luc Picard and starring both Picard and his young son Henri; the enchanting Brazilian film, O Casamento de Romeu e Julieta; as well as A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, starring Dianne Wiest, Robert Downey, Jr, and Shia LaBeouf.

The 2006 Festival welcomed celebrities such as Luc Picard, Judge Reinhold, and Dito Montiel, as well as honored actor and producer Anthony Anderson with the 2007 Rising Star Award. This Fesitval also marked the introduction of the Puerto Plata Program at the Cine Roma Theater. The program, which was designed to give back to the Puerto Plata community, showcased a total of eight Spanish language films throughout the week as a way to provide local entertainment within the community.
